Going into UTC, I honestly thought people saying, “It will change your life,” was just a cliché to convince people to go. But after experiencing it for myself, I know there is so much unimaginable truth behind that sentence. UTC completely changed my perspective on life, sports, and relationships. It left me with a heart on fire for Jesus and a joy that can only come from the Holy Spirit.
The incredible people you meet at UTC have such an impact and influence on you and immediately become your brothers and sisters in Christ. Being surrounded by athletes who genuinely love Jesus showed me that being an athlete doesn’t have to look like what locker rooms or Instagram looks like. I learned that you can compete with excellence while still worshiping the Lord through your sport, and that your identity is never defined by your performance.
UTC was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but without a doubt the most rewarding. I learned how to lean into the pain and to choose to become better rather than bitter when you don’t understand Gods plan. Most importantly, I learned to surrender everything to God. You don’t have to perform for Him because you are already more than your sport. He simply invites you to do it with Him. That truth has changed the way I approach every practice, every game, every relationship, and every day of my life. I truly pray everyone gets the opportunity to experience UTC because God used that week to transform my heart in ways I’ll be changed forever.
