My Eyes Were Opened

Ultimate Training Camp was the most transformative experience of my life. In my experience with sports I have always felt like an outsider because of my faith. It always seemed like no one else around me had the same values, and because of that I pushed my faith down when it came to performance. I relied much more on how my competitors and teammates saw me based on my performance rather than my identity in Christ.

At UTC, my eyes were opened to just how many athletes felt the same. UTC gave me a community of like-minded athletes who not only wanted success in performance, but to achieve success in step with God and His plans. I know now that my identity resides in who Christ says I am, not what my race times say I am. I know now that the body and talents He has given me are meant to be put to work, not because my parents, coaches, or friends want me to be better, but because it is what God intended for me.

This helps me everyday, to push and motivate myself to live up to His plan for my life and my athletics, however that may shape out. I am so incredibly grateful for the experience of UTC and for the community that I have gained from it.
